The Antiquary - Issue 4, November 2022 - printed copy.  28-page A5 magazine

Welcome to November’s issue of The Antiquary. This month we are back to our usual miscellany format with articles on a range of different subjects. Firstly, early printing and the ground-breaking work of William Caxton and Wynkyn de Worde. There are articles on panel paintings that come from a similar context in English churches, but have very different iconography - one a Doom painting portraying the Last Judgement, the second a piece of English state iconography, a painting of the Spanish Armada. Lastly, a longer article looks at the extraordinary survival of a Saxon chapel, long encased in a farmhouse and rediscovered in the nineteenth century. Plenty for you to enjoy and whet your historical appetite.
